How to Enroll Through PCA
Getting started takes six simple steps. Your checkout total will be $0.

Find a time. Check the lesson calendar for days and times that work for your family. You don't need to book yet.

Ask your HST. Let your Home School Teacher know you'd like songwriting and music production lessons from Teach Music Production. (See “What to tell your HST” below.)

PCA sends the certificate. Once your HST approves, PCA emails an Enrichment Certificate to Teach Music Production.

Watch for your email. We will set up your lesson package, and you'll get an email titled “Your Lessons are Ready to Book.”

Book your dates. Click “Schedule Your Lessons Now!” in that email and add your lessons to the cart. Each one shows $0.

Place your order. Check out with a $0 total. You'll get an email with your schedule and Zoom link.

Private lessons: 30 minutes online, $45 per lesson, 4 or 5 lessons per month

Small group lessons (2–5 students): 30 minutes online, $25 per student per lesson, 4 or 5 lessons per month

Choose Your Lesson
Private Lesson (1-on-1): A personal lesson built around your student's goals and music. 30 minutes on Zoom.
Small Group Lesson (2–5 students): Make music with friends on Tuesday afternoons. Bring classmates, or join an existing group if there's an open spot. 30 minutes on Zoom.
Both options teach the same songwriting and production skills. All students need is a computer, internet, and BandLab, a free online music studio.

Meet Your Instructor
Hi, I'm Matthew Lyons. I've spent over 20 years helping students learn and express themselves through music, and I specialize in music production and songwriting. I believe anyone can make music with good guidance and practice, so beginners are always welcome.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from San Diego State University, a Master's degree in Curriculum Design from the University of San Diego, and a Master's degree in Music Technology from the University of Valley Forge. I'm also Avid-certified in Pro Tools and Sibelius.
Questions from PCA Families
Do we pay anything?
No. Once your HST approves lessons and PCA sends the Enrichment Certificate, your checkout total is $0.
Why does the cart show $0?
Your lessons are already covered by PCA. You still go through checkout so your dates and times are saved and your Zoom link is sent.
Can I book before approval?
You can look at the calendar any time to find a good time. Wait for the “Your Lessons are Ready to Book” email before you book.
Does my child need music experience?
No. Lessons start where each student is, from first-time beginners to students who already make music.
Can siblings or friends take lessons together?
Yes. Small groups have 2–5 students and meet on Tuesday afternoons. Each student needs their own approval from PCA, even siblings in the same family.
What if we need to miss a lesson?
Life happens, and sometimes you can't make it to a lesson. Just give us at least 24 hours' notice and we'll reschedule. Late cancellations and no-shows forfeit the lesson.
What ages are lessons for?
Students in grades 4–12.
What software do students use?
BandLab, a free, online DAW that runs in your web browser. There's nothing to buy.
What is a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW)?
A DAW is software that enables you to write, record, edit, mix, and manipulate sounds on a digital device such as a computer, tablet, or smartphone.
Can I use my own DAW?
Yes. We work with GarageBand and Logic Pro as well.
How long are lessons, and where do they happen?
Each lesson is 30 minutes, online over Zoom.
Should my child take private or small group lessons?
Private lessons are fully focused on your student's goals. Small groups are a fun way to create with friends and share ideas. Both teach the same songwriting and production skills.
Can my child join a small group without friends signing up?
Yes. Students can join an existing Tuesday group if there's an open spot.
